242/365 I'm a Jag Fan

It's Tuesday and this photo was obviously not taken today.  My desperate late in the day shot was just plain bad, so I'm pulling one from last Friday night.  We are the Flower Mound Jaguars and these are varsity players with a move they do right before each kickoff.  The band plays as they move side to side in their circle.  Then they break and run toward the ball to kick off.  I love Friday night lights and I'll probably share a few other Jag scenes throughout the fall.

241/365 Time to Get Started Again

It's time to start mosaicing again now that there is the hope of cooler weather in the next couple weeks.  I work in the garage and the Texas temps have kept me from my mosaic fun.  I'm putting together an order for tiles, so was checking colors today.  Some of these plates may be used on mosaic crosses.

240/365 Repurpose

I'm not a big antique collector or anything, but I do enjoy when I find something old that I can use in a new way.  These are two old bobbins or spools that we have sitting on our mantel.  I sometimes use them as candlesticks.

239/365 Long Overdue

My husband, Gary, has been driving a pickup truck for 17 years.  It has served him well, and we will be keeping it, but it was definitely time for a new car for him to use for his long drive to work.  We picked up his car today, a spicy red Kia Forte 5-door (hatchback).

238/365 I'm a Band Mom

I'm and band mom and I'm married to a band dad.  Gary & I love the fall football and band marching season.  First football game is tonight!  GO JAGUARS!

237/365 Coffee Bean Day

My husband, Gary, loves coffee.  He buys coffee beans that are green and roasts them the way he likes them.  It's a hobby he enjoys and while I'm not into the roasting, I do enjoy the fruits of Gary's hobby - some of the best coffee ever!  I do help a bit by going to the coffee bean store to pick up what Gary wants to roast next.  Today was bean day and when I was there, I went into the back room where they keep the many types of beans.  They come from various countries.  I really like the graphics on the burlap bags.   I'm including a second picture of our favorite coffee beans.  Isn't the bag pretty?

236/365 We Were Hoping

Early this evening, the wind whipped up and some clouds blew in.  It felt and looked like there might be some rain.  We need it so badly.  I haven't kept up with the rain statistics, but Texas is in a serious drought.  It would have been nice if these clouds had dumped something on us, but it was not to be.  Notice in the middle there are two eyebrow type marks.  I thought it was something on my camera, but they are in every photo taken in this direction, but not in my others.  So it was either in the sky, or something that happened with the way the light was hitting the camera.

235/365 Rheudasil Park

I've done a photo here before, but needed to get a picture quick, and second to the cat for my last ditch photo effort is the fountain in the pond at Rheudasil Park!  It was really nice out there tonight - kids feeding the ducks and people walking their dogs.

234/365 "It's Like Christmas"

My son, Kevin, said "It's like Christmas" as he was opening up a package of pens tonight.  Today school started and on the first day the high schooler kids get their supply lists.  So we went out tonight and got the required items.  Fortunately my boys didn't need much.

233/365 Homemade Pizza Rolls

School starts tomorrow and I'm always trying to think of things to put in my sons' lunches.  One boy isn't too keen on sandwiches, so I found a recipe for homemade pizza rolls.  I tried them this afternoon, and the boys have declared them winners for the lunch sack.  They'll have to eat them cold, but they love cold pizza, so I think they'll like these cold too.

232/365 Directors' Perch

Eric and Kevin are in the high school marching band.  They've been practicing long and hard in the school parking lot this summer.  The band directors teach the kids from atop a tall platform.  This is the bottom of the stairway that leads to the top.

231/365 Haircut

We don't do a lot of clothes shopping right before school starts, but the boys do get haircuts.  Today was the day.

230/365 School Lunch

I went and picked up a few school supplies today.  I wasn't shopping for lunch boxes, but I saw these and kind of was wishing we had cute lunch bags like this when I was a young girl.  They had some really cute ones!

229/365 Watch Out

School starts Monday.  Watch out for the kids in the crosswalks.

228/365 Church Spire

The sky wasn't as pretty as it was last night, when I forgot my memory card.  But I tried for a shot anyway.

227/365 Scout Again

When I was ready to take what I thought was going to be a great picture, which included a gorgeous sunset, I found that I had left my memory card in the computer! Grrr.  So, I got home tonight, after dark, and looked for the cat.  He's always good for a last minute desperation shot.

226/365 Pins

I was cleaning off my sewing table and picked up a box of straight pins.  My immediate thought - oooh, photo of the day!

224/365 Say Cheese!

Tomorrow the band kids are getting their pictures taken.  Just checking the uniform tonight.

223/365 Some Like It Hot

Oops, I'm posting this a little bit after midnight!  Wasn't home much today, but was here long enough to get a picture earlier of my angelonia plant.  It's a wonderful plant that LOVES hot weather.

222/365 Lizzie

This colorful critter came back with me from Missouri a few weeks ago.

221/365 Do Not Disturb

I was watering some shrubs that were looking a little sad, due to the high temps around here lately.  Out popped this little guy, who was disturbed by the hose blasting his hideout.  Pretty cool looking, even though I know he's not a welcome sight in terms of plants.  Apparently grasshoppers thrive well in dry conditions.  And we've sure got that.

220/365 Keeping Them Safe

All over North Texas (and probably the country), marching bands have started practicing in their school parking lots.  Used to be that the kids would park their cars around the perimeter of the practice area, so that cars wouldn't drive right through (which happened on occasion).  But now we have these lovely blue barrels and ropes.

219/365 Presents!!!

We celebrated my husband's birthday today.  It was actually on Friday, but today is the first day the whole family could get together, as the boys have been busy with summer band activities.

218/365 Rocky Plans

We've collected rocks from various places we've been.  Our plan is to incorporate them into a water feature in our back yard.  And that's the most our plan consists of at this point, just an idea.  So for now, the rocks are in a bowl on the back patio.  I really enjoy the textures and shapes.

217/365 A Horse is a Horse

This guy wouldn't look up at me for the longest time, then finally he did, as if to say, "okay, take my picture and get it over with".  (Confession: I took this photo a few days ago.)

214/365 Wooden

Since there is no way I'm going out in this Texas heat to take photos, I looked to Flickr for inspiration.  There is a group that doles out a theme each day.  A recent theme was "wooden".  This is a game called Cathedral.  It's a game of strategy and a game I enjoy, although I haven't played for quite awhile.  This is an earlier game, so it's made all of wood.  I think wooden sets can still be found, but the plastic models are more available these days.  I think the wooden one is pretty.

213/365 A Former Hobby

I used to dabble in calligraphy.  This is a piece that I did.  It's hanging on the wall here at home.  It's under glass, so I had to take the pic at an angle, to get rid of glare.  The lettering really is in straight lines!  Today was another day that I waited too long to take my daily photo.  Then when I took my camera with me somewhere this evening, I forgot my memory card!  So, I got home and was once again looking for something around the house to snap a shot of.  Horrible lighting.  You'd think I'd learn.  After all, this is the 213th day!
