59/365 Clean

Today I scrubbed the floor on my hands and knees.  It's really, really clean.  I'll go so far as to say it's so clean you can eat off of it.

58/365 Dancing

I'm at the end of the day and I haven't taken any photos with my 365 project specifically in mind.  However, I DID take lots of photos today.  They were of items I listed for sale today on Ebay.  So, since the rule I've made for myself is that I have to post a photo each day that is actually taken on that day, that leaves me with my Ebay photos.  So, I kind of liked this photo of some vintage ballerina cake toppers.  Aren't they cute?

57/365 Projects

My son has a project to do for his Biology class.  He is to build a DNA model.  Today he began.

56/365 Evening

This was taken at a park near my house.  Trying again to take photos after sunset.  I wasn't sure which one I liked best.  But I chose this one simply because of that little duck in the corner.  He didn't face the way I told him to though.  And this was taken after the prettiest light when the sky is dusky blue, but then again, those photos didn't have the duck!

55/365 After the Rain

Like many, I love being outside just after it rains.  Cash and I went for a walk this morning.  The leaves around here stay on the trees so long, but a few more came down with the rain this morning.  I had to get down low for this shot.  I should have gotten down lower, actually laid down, but I was being a weenie and didn't want to get the entire front side of me wet.  But as it was, I practically had my cheek on the walkway, with bottoms up (I know, not a pretty picture), on a deserted trail, and wouldn't you know it, a delivery truck came through the cul-de-sac behind me and could see me from afar.  I didn't hear the truck stop.  I just heard someone calling loudly, "ma'am... ma'am".  So up I came and let him know I was just taking a picture.  He had gotten out of his truck and was coming toward me.  He said he was worried I had fallen down.  I assured him I was fine and thanked him for stopping and checking on me.  So I guess if I'm going to be laying down on a trail, I probably should have someone other than my dog with me, to reassure the passersby.

54/365 What's Your Favorite Color?

My son worked on a map for his geography class last night.  He left the colored pencils all over the desk.  I didn't mind though, because it gave me my photo subject for the day.  But I really do long for a macro lens.  I plan to get a set of extension tubes soon.  This was taken with a point and shoot set on the "macro" setting.  Can't really control the focus too well.  I'll revisit colored pencils later in the 365 project.

53/365 Road Work

In my town, these signs are all over.  You almost can't take a photo in this town without there being some sort of orange sign or orange cone in it...Road Work Ahead, Road Work Next 5 Miles, Work Zone, Traffic Fines Double.  Oh yeah, there are the End Work Zone signs too, but I don't get too excited when I see one, because as soon as I turn the corner, there's the ol' Road Work Ahead sign again.  I really wanted to take a photo of the orange cones on the main street near my house, but decided I'd be risking my life getting the shot.  You see, the orange cone locations seem to change daily.  So drivers are a little crazy out there trying to figure out what lane they are supposed to be in today.  So I went with the safe shot, which is right at the exit of my neighborhood.  I'll be glad when the road work is completed.  Of course that probably won't happen until my boys have graduated college and I've moved out of town.

52/365 UPS

UPS delivered a package today.  It was the highlight of Scout's day.

51/365 Boy Scouts

Tonight I dropped off my son at the National Scouting Museum.  He was attending the Eagle Court of Honor for a friend of his.  I thought the building was pretty, so I tried out a twilight shot.  Not too bad for my first try, but I have more to learn.

50/365 Ebay

I sell on Ebay from time to time, mainly vintage items.  I have some things stashed in a closet that should have been sold long ago (no, I'm not a hoarder!)  These are some vintage fabrics I'll be selling.  I love the colors and patterns.  I thought I needed to have a colorful photo today, as the last few have not had much color.

49/365 Golden

I gave my boys a ride to school this morning, then my dog and I went driving around looking for an interesting fence.  Happy Fence Friday!

48/365 Profile

So again I waited really late in the day and ended up trying to find something at home to photograph.  So, I liked this guy out in my backyard and decided to play with apertures.  This is all the way open at 1.8.  Had to choose carefully what I wanted in focus, so went for the edge of his face.  I probably should have used the tripod, but I admit I was being lazy.

46/365 Patches

A few years ago, I started sewing patches - cub scouts, boys scouts, girl scouts, brownies and work patches.  Today I'm working on a couple of jobs.

44/365 Be Mine

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.  My sweet husband brought me red roses Friday.  He arranged them in the vase for me and everything!  I saw a report on TV that red roses are the number one flowers ordered by men on Valentine's Day.  In the report, they were encouraging people to think of other, less traditional flowers to give.  But I say, why mess with a good thing?  You can't go wrong with red roses.  I love mine.

43/365 Sad Day Yet I'm Full of Praise

My 15 year old son's hobby is flying his R/C helicopter.  I'm not talking about one of the little ones.  His is about 4-1/2 feet long... and powerful!  He flies 3-D manuevers and has been preparing for an upcoming amateur competition.  Well, today he was out flying and while he was hovering, just a few feet off the ground, checking on some adjustments he had recently made, the helicopter's speed controller failed and the helicopter caught on fire.  Flames were shooting up and out.  His dad was with him and he tried to smother the flames but they kept coming.  The only thing they could think to do was to pick it up and run it over to a sandy area nearby to put it in the sand to extinguish the flames.  Fortunately, that worked.  A couple areas of grass also caught fire but they were able to put them out.  This photo is of the helicopter - melted parts and electronics that are toast...burned toast.  Apparently the speed controller is connected to every other electronic part in the heli.  So, I'm really sad for my son.  He built this helicopter himself and he saved his money for a long time to buy it, even doing car washes in the neighborhood!  And this is a VERY expensive repair as all of the electronics need to be replaced.  Oh, he'll earn the money again.  And right now, he's dismantling the heli to more accurately assess the damage.  But even though it's a sad day, I'm praising God that He kept my guys safe during it all.  Fortunately, the flames did not get to the batteries.  If they had exploded... well, I don't even want to think about that.  Also, I'm thankful that the grass fire did not get out of hand.  I am a bit concerned about the fumes from melting plastic that my guys were around, but I will trust that the Lord has provided His protection there too.  And I see some neighborhood car washes in the near future!  Oh, and a fire extinguisher to take to the flying field.

42/365 Promises

It's been unusually cold around here the past week and I have not taken my dog, Cash, for his walk.  You see, I'm a fair weather walker.  He has been so bored.  So last night I promised him I'd take him for a walk today.

41/365 Practice

One of my sons is a percussionist and the marimba is one of the instruments he plays.  I waited too late today to take my daily photo, so the lighting was not ideal for this shot.  The marimba is such a pretty instrument.  I'm sure I'll take more photos of it during this 365 project.

40/365 I'm Ready

I do love winter, but after the past week and several days of being housebound, I've had my fill.  I'm ready for spring to arrive.

36/365 Warmup

It has finally warmed up around here after four days of frosty, icy, snowy weather.  But it's still not too warm to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

35/365 Old Oak

I took lots of photos today of the snow, which is unusual around here, yet the photo I liked the best was not of snow, but of the branches of an old oak tree in our neighborhood.

34/365 Ice Days

This is the third day of no school for my boys, due to bad weather.  These photos show what we've been doing - pretty much nothing!!

32/365 Beautiful Winter

The wind was blowing hard this morning and it was difficult to get good focus.  I was hoping some birds would come back and pose for me, as they had been playing earlier, but they didn't return to these bushes while I was outside.  (added texture from SKC Photography)
