151/365 Backyard Flower

I planted one coneflower plant two or three years ago and this is the first bloom.  I'm very excited that this year there are a couple dozen buds on this one plant alone!

150/365 Freedom is Not Free

Today Gary and I went to the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery for a Memorial Day Service honoring those men and women who have died during their service to our country.  It was very moving.

149/365 Tomorrow is Grouting Day

I didn't do anything special with my camera today.  Well, I did take it with me to the dog park, but no dogs would smile for me, so I came home and made a couple of mosaic crosses.  I have a lot of things waiting for grout.  (sides of crosses will be painted.)

148/365 Do We Have Anything to Eat?

This is a common sight in our house - a teenage boy looking for something to eat.

147/365 My Trumpet Player

Tonight we went to the high school spring concert.  This is Eric, my sophomore trumpet player, after the conert. My son, Kevin, is a freshman and is a percussionist.  He got out of getting his picture taken because he had already changed out of his tuxedo.

146/365 Quickie Sunset

Gary, my sweet hubby, drove me around tonight, looking for a photo subject.  We went to Grapevine Lake.  The water was so calm and the sun was going down.  I wanted to stay longer to get a photo after the sun went down (love twilight photos) but the guy who was collecting $5.00 at the park gate didn't make us pay, as long as we agreed to be out in 10 minutes.

144/365 Storm Watchin'

Some supercell storms are coming through our area tonight.  Tornados, hail.  We spent a little while in our supposedly safe room (the bathroom) tonight.  All is clear now in our town, but the storms are still going strong east of us.

143/365 Burst of Color

Today's theme on flickr is "burst of color".  It was easy to find something colorful on the mosaic shelf.   The shot that I had in mind needs a macro lens though....some day.

142/365 Tangled

I joined a flickr group that has a daily photo theme.  I'm having trouble coming up with ideas so I thought it might be fun to try some of theirs now and then.  Today's theme is "tangled".

141/365 Dog Park Friend

We met this little guy at the dog park today.  Such a cutie, four months old.  He would pose for a picture for about two seconds before he jumped up toward me.

140/365 Here Comes the Sun...

We've been having storms today and I didn't really expect to see the sun, but it showed its face for a little while early this evening.  (tea-stained fabric texture by SKC Photography)

137/365 Good Sport

My son, Kevin, agreed to let me take his picture so I can practice my photo editing skills.  I see some things I still want to tweak, but the computer is in hot demand and I'm getting kicked off!

136/365 Field of Flowers

There's a really nice wildflower field near my house.  I pass by and through it (they've mowed a path) when I take Cash for a walk.  Today I decided to take my camera with me.  I learned that it's not a great idea to try to take pictures with Cash along.  I no sooner had a shot composed, and then he pulled on the leash.  But I must admit, I was supposed to be walking him, not making him wait patiently while I tried to get the right shot.  It's okay though, the flowers will be there awhile.  I'll go back - alone.

135/365 Memories

Again, I waited until late to take a photo.   Sitting at my desk, I looked up and took a photo of the stuff on the shelf.  Yes folks, this is a desperation shot.  And I apologize because it's kind of creepy!  This foot is a mold of my oldest son's foot.  I can't even remember how old he was when we did this.  A year old, maybe?  We didn't do one of our secondborn.  The second child always gets left out!

134/365 Blossoms

This is a tree in our neighborhood park.  I was surprised to find blossoms on it this late in spring.  Playing with textures.  I see some mistakes, but I'm still learning.  Textures by SKC Photography and Ellenvd.

133/365 Bound for Auction

As promised, the finished stepping stone.  I also grouted some other pieces and wanted to include a photo of all of them, but I'll have to save that for another day.  I'm off to deliver to the elementary school.

132/365 Grouting

I love grouting my mosaic pieces. They are so rough looking... when all the pieces are glued. The grout just brings it all together. Tomorrow, the finished piece. This one is going to the elementary school for their auction next week.  (This post is a day late because blogger was down.  So there will be two posts today.)

131/365 From My Boys

My boys gave me flowers for Mother's Day.  I actually got them last Friday and they are still looking great five days later!

130/365 Rice and Beans

So, I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for photos for my project 365.  I think I'm going to try what some people do and take themed photos, like Macro Monday, Fence Friday, etc.  Maybe that will help.  And of course, I can always resort to a food shot!

129/365 These Boots Were Made for Walkin'

We visited the Leddy Boot Store in the Fort Worth Stockyards Saturday.  These boots were made for walkin', but I won't be the one walkin' in them.   The ones I liked were $4900!!  Whooooeeeeee!  Sure were pretty though.

127/365 Friends

My friends from California, Kurt and Sandy, have been good sports about our warm spring day.  We had fun visiting the Fort Worth Stockyards today.

126/365 Welcome to Texas

My long-time friend, Sandy, and her husband, Kurt, are coming from California tonight to visit me in Texas.  Before we moved here, we lived in New Mexico for three years.  During that time, my friends visited twice.  We've lived here for 13 years and this will be their first time coming to our home.  Granted, it is much farther than New Mexico, but much of the reason that they haven't visited is that Texas isn't high on Kurt's list of places to visit.  You see, he's been here when it's been hot.  And no one, not even me, wants to be in Texas when it's hot!   Well, maybe some are okay with it, but frankly, I'd rather be somewhere else, and I really do like Texas.  It's great except for the heat.  So, I tell people "Come in the spring; it's beautiful". I assured Kurt it's not always hot.  So, they're coming tonight and wouldn't you know it, tomorrow it is going to be about 10 degrees above normal.  Yep, 90 degrees on May 7, with humidity thrown in too.  Welcome to Texas!!!  A little two or three day heat wave in spring.  I wonder if my friend has told her husband the forecast!  So, instead of chocolates on their pillows, I got them some fans!!  They'll need them tomorrow.

125/365 Roasted

My husband, Gary, enjoys a good cup of coffee.  To get it just the way he likes it, he buys green beans and roasts them himself.  I, myself, have nothing to do with the roasting process, except for going to the coffee bean store.  But I do get to enjoy the results of his roasting efforts.  He makes the BEST coffee.

124/365 Do I Have to Have a Reason?

Splurged today.  If I have to have a reason, I can probably come up with one.  Flavors in this wonderful sundae were banana with nestle crunch and blueberry with pecan.  Then drizzled with hot fudge, topped with whipped cream and the all important cherry on top.  Yum.

123/365 Vintage

Well, the last several days have been pretty dry for me in terms of photography.  Just haven't had picture-taking on my mind.   This is a camera that my husband had before we were married.  He enjoys vintage cameras. This one is the kind that has a top that flips up and you look down into the camera.  I think it would be fun to take pictures with it.  Right now it's just sitting on a bookshelf.

122/365 Just Playing with Photoshop

This is what happens when you haven't taken a picture for the day.  Just shot a candle and played in Photoshop a bit.

121/365 Spring/Summer Decor

Changing up the curtains in the family room.  Have one panel of four complete.  Nothing fancy, just a new look for spring/summer.  I hope I like them after they are all done!
